GRADUANDS DRESS CODE

ATTENTION: Graduands who failed to follow the dress code as mentioned below, will NOT be allowed to participate in the Convocation Ceremony

 

Dress Code for Female Graduands 

  • Female graduands must wear the BAJU KURUNG or A LONG DRESS (MAXI) of any colourThe length of the skirt/dress should reach the ankle and do not have any slits on the left, right, back or front of dress. The dress must cover the body and reach the neck as well as having long sleeves reaching the wrists. Dresses made from transparent materials are not allowedPants or trousers are strictly not allowed.
  • Female graduands must wear black color shoes covering toes and heels (covered shoes). Slippers or sandals are strictly prohibited.
  • Female Indian graduates are ONLY ALLOWED to wear sari (covering the belly) as an option. No other dresses are permitted.
  • ONLY female Sikh’s graduates are allowed to wear the Punjabi dress / kurti.
  • Any other traditional or national dresses are not permitted.
  • Any service uniforms (military, police, etc.), which comprise pants or trousers, are not permitted.
  • UTM Convocation Attire (robe and bonnet/mortarboard) will be provided by the university.

  • Graduands are NOT allowed to :
    • Colored their hair
    • Wear clothing’s that cover their faces
    • Wear short sleeved or sleeveless shirts
    • Wear skirts not reaching the ankles
    • Wear dresses with slits
    • Wear inappropriate dresses which uncovered any part of the body below the neck
    • Wear t-shirts
    • Wear jeans
    • Wear any kind of pants or trousers
    • Wear too many piercing accessories or jewelries.
    • Wear slippers, sandals, sports shoes or any kind of casual shoes

 

 

Dress Code for Male Graduands 

  • Graduands must wear a black Lounge Suit with a dark colored neck tie OR a black National Dress of Malaysia (Baju Melayu Cekak Musang with black “samping“), along with black shoes and socks.
  • The definition of a Lounge Suit is a black blazer/coat and black formal trousers with white long sleeved shirt.
  • Male Sikh graduands are allowed to wear black turban only.
  • Any other traditional or national dresses are not permitted.
  • UTM Convocation Attire (robe and bonnet/mortarboard) will be provided by the university.

  • Graduands are NOT allowed the following :
    • Wear a Bow Ties
    • Wear t-shirts
    • Wear khaki pants
    • Wear jeans
    • Wear short pants
    • Wear short sleeved or sleeveless shirts
    • Wear ear studs and bracelet
    • Colored hair
    • Have long hair (reaching the shirt collar)
    • Wear slippers, sandals, sports shoes or any kind of casual shoes
